Demand response is a program offered by some utility service providers to better manage the balance between available energy and energy consumption. The system entails customers that have optioned into the program cutting their energy usage by a certain amount during peak times. Usually, providers offer incentives for those that opt in, which can translate to more savings or other benefits.
